A Remedy for Uncertainty

A Remedy for Uncertainty

Throughout the course of our lives, each one of us will face situations of uncertainty—regarding facts, outcomes, or the best way to proceed. A remedy in times of uncertainty is our utmost trust and reliance on God, Who is all-knowing and all-powerful.

Proverbs 3:5,6:
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

When uncertainty arises—because of lack of information, conflicting details, genuine security concerns, or otherwise—our most proactive and reasonable response is to reach for information from God rather than to lean unto our own understanding. God’s Word is always reliable, and as we acknowledge God in all our ways, He will direct our paths. We can trust in Him with all our hearts and rest assured that He will direct us to the best course of action.

Psalms 56:3:
What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.

Isaiah 12:2:
Behold, God
is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

Here are a few Biblical steps that can strengthen trust in God and remedy uncertainty.

PRAY

  • Pray for yourself, your family, your home fellowship, your community, your workplace, the world. Jesus Christ taught “…that men ought always to pray, and not to faint” (Luke 18:1).
  • Pray to God with your understanding in the name of Jesus Christ, claiming God’s promises. Lift your burdens to God, Who wants to carry them for you. He is able and willing to use the vast resources at His disposal to help bring you peace. God is our Protector. He is our Refuge.
  • Pray perfectly by speaking in tongues (Romans 8:26-28). Even when you don’t know what to pray for, you can pray effectively by speaking in tongues. God covers where our words cannot.

REHEARSE GOD’S MIGHTY ACTS

  • To build your believing, remind yourself of the mighty acts God has performed, throughout Bible times and in your own life. Then declare God’s wondrous works to others.
  • Psalms 145:4,5:
One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.
I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.

  • Read victorious records in the Word to your family, and if you keep a gratitude or victory journal, get it out and rehearse God’s mighty acts together. God does not get weaker over time, so the same power and might He has shown before, He can manifest today. “For I am the Lord, I change not…” (Malachi 3:6).

PREACH GOD’S GOODNESS

  • God is always good. Not everyone understands this. As a matter of fact, some preach that national disasters, worldwide pandemics, and other life-threatening acts are “acts of God,” Who is punishing the world for its sin or testing man. But God is not responsible for evil. He wants only good for all of mankind. In times of uncertainty, it’s important that people hear that God is good to all.
  • Psalms 145:9 [The Amplified Bible]:
The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works [the entirety of things created].

  • God is for us, not against us. This we can be certain of, for God made the ultimate sacrifice by giving His Son, Jesus Christ, for our salvation. If He would give His only begotten Son for us, then He is not against us. What a wonderful message of peace to share with others.
  • John 3:16,17:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

    Romans 8:31,32:
If God be for us, who can be against us?
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Times of uncertainty require our utmost trust in our reliable God in order to peacefully make our way through. To strengthen our trust, we can (1) pray, lifting our burdens to God; (2) rehearse God’s mighty acts to build our believing; and (3) preach God’s goodness to bring genuine peace to others. Taking consistent action on these few steps will help uncertainty to fade as our trust in God soars and He directs our paths.
